Terms of use

1. Agreement

PDFAA is operated by FivePaths, LLC ("FivePaths", "we", "us"). By visiting pdfaa.report, requesting access, or using the PDFAA audit service, you accept these terms. If you use PDFAA on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind that organization, and "you" means the organization.

2. The service

PDFAA audits PDF documents against WCAG 2.1 AA, repairs machine-fixable violations, generates accessible alternate versions, and produces reports describing what it found and what it changed. Access is currently by request, and a separate service agreement with your organization may add terms to these; where the two conflict, the service agreement wins.

3. AI-assisted analysis and its limits

PDFAA uses artificial intelligence to evaluate documents, including judgments no rule-based checker can make on its own, such as whether alternate text is meaningful or a reading order is sensible. AI models make mistakes. They can miss real accessibility problems, flag things that are not problems, and describe document content incorrectly.

Every PDFAA report and every repaired document is therefore a best effort, not a guarantee. We do not warrant that a report is accurate or complete, that a repaired document is accessible to any particular user, or that any document meets WCAG, Section 508, or any other accessibility standard or legal requirement. PDFAA is a tool that informs your accessibility work; it is not a substitute for human review or for advice from a qualified accessibility or legal professional, and its output is not legal advice. If you have a compliance obligation, have a person verify the documents that matter.

4. Your documents

You keep all rights to the documents you submit. You grant FivePaths the license needed to operate the service on them: to store, analyze, transform, and return them to you, including processing by the AI models described in the privacy policy. You are responsible for having the rights to every document you submit and for the lawfulness of its contents.

5. Acceptable use

• Don't submit documents you have no right to process.
• Don't submit malware or content that is unlawful to possess or distribute.
• Don't probe, overload, or interfere with the service, or attempt to access other customers' documents or reports.
• Don't resell or misrepresent PDFAA output as a certification of accessibility or legal compliance.

We may suspend or end access for use that breaks these rules.

6. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE AND ALL REPORTS, REPAIRED DOCUMENTS, AND OTHER OUTPUT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AND ACCESSIBILITY. SECTION 3 IS PART OF THIS DISCLAIMER: AI-ASSISTED OUTPUT MAY BE WRONG, AND NO OUTPUT OF THE SERVICE IS A GUARANTEE OR WARRANTY THAT ANY DOCUMENT IS ACCESSIBLE OR COMPLIANT.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, FivePaths is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or claims arising from reliance on a report or repaired document, and our total liability for all claims relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim arose.

8. Changes

We may change the service or these terms. Material changes to the terms will be posted on this page with a new effective date; continued use after a change means you accept it.
